Foreword

The aim of this report is to provide a developer or product manager, with a complete report of bugs, issues, and friction related to user experience. This report has been written with video evidence to highlight these moments with clarity for the developer, who can watch video evidence to quickly reproduce issues on their own machine.

Introduction

Breveto is a desktop writing app that supports markdown. This app allows you to stay organized, take notes, and structure all of your ideas in one place while providing the user with a delightful experience and theme customization.

In this document, I have used the free version of the app which allows the user to do the basic note-taking functionalities, but no advanced features such as the AI-powered tools or theme customization.

Testing Methodology

To test the app I followed a straightforward user journey: installed it from the app-store, and after going through onboarding, I simply started using it just like any user would. While using the Breveto I was also running Dashcam. This way, I was able to capture moments during the usage of the app which felt odd, and I captured issues and bugs in short clips, which I will describe in more detail below.

Bug Summary

I have not encountered any critical bugs, and only a couple of issues which caused a little discomfort to me as a user while using the app which suggests that the app is in its early stages of testing in development but has been developed with sane principles.

Recommendations and Next Steps

I tested the most basic version of the app so, testing the app with more rigor (especially the more advanced features) is definitely required. The bugs that I have found are definitely no high priority and don't affect the correct functioning of the app and by that, I mean that the app performs most of its duties in an excellent way. The app is also really well designed and feels smooth and provides me (as a free user) with enough functionality to make it a must-have on my computer when I want to take notes with markdown quickly and I don't want to use VS code or the generic text editing tools provided to me by my operating system.

Conclusion

Having used this app for the last couple of weeks has been quite a positive experience and it will definitely stay on my computer. I hope that the app’s developer(s) will take some of the recommendations in this report and improve the existing features - to provide the end-user with the most optimal user experience.
